What is Faith Promise Mission Giving?
Faith Promise Mission Giving is a biblical approach to supporting missions that invites every believer—adults, young people, and children alike—to step out in faith and trust God’s provision. It is based on the principle of giving beyond what is expected, trusting that God will supply the resources needed to fulfill His work through the church.
Faith Promise is not about calculating what you can afford. Instead, it’s about prayerfully seeking God’s guidance and asking, "Lord, what would You have me give to support missions?" This commitment is made between the giver and God, as an act of faith, trusting His promise to provide: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19, KJV).
Faith Promise Giving encourages believers to align their hearts with God’s mission of reaching the lost, as demonstrated in 2 Corinthians 9:7: "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
At Parkway Baptist, Faith Promise is a vital part of our missions ministry. It allows us to financially support missionaries across the globe, ensuring that the gospel continues to be preached to all nations. When we give by faith, we not only invest in the Kingdom of God but also grow in our trust and dependence on His faithful provision.
How Does Faith-Promise Giving Work?
Every member of Parkway Baptist is encouraged to prayerfully consider making a Faith Promise commitment—a pledge to give above and beyond their regular tithe for the specific purpose of supporting missions. This practice is rooted in the biblical model of sacrificial and purposeful giving to further the spread of the gospel:
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7, KJV).
Faith Promise Giving is a personal commitment between the giver and God. As members seek the Lord’s direction in prayer, they ask, “Lord, what would You have me give by faith to support missions?”
The process includes:
- Commitment Cards – During our missions emphasis month, each church member is kindly asked to fill out a Faith Promise card, indicating their commitment to give weekly, monthly, or annually toward missions. These cards remain anonymous and are not signed.
- Collection and Budget – The cards are collected during the missions service and given to the missions pastor, and the total amount pledged guides the pastoral staff, deacons, and financial team to set the budget for the year.
Faith Promise Giving is a best practice in mission support because it allows the church to plan effectively for missionary partnerships and ministry outreach. It is a step of faith for both the individual and the church, trusting God to supply the resources needed to fulfill His command: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15, KJV). When we give by faith, we honor God’s mission and join in His work to bring the message of salvation to the ends of the earth.
Why Promote Faith-Promise Giving?
Faith Promise Giving is a powerful way to increase a church’s commitment to the Great Commission and deepen its passion for missions. Churches that practice Faith Promise often testify of remarkable spiritual growth, increased mission awareness, and greater financial support for missionaries. Promoting Faith Promise Giving is about more than raising funds—it’s about building a culture of obedience to Christ’s command to reach the world with the gospel. When a congregation steps out in faith to give toward missions, their involvement in world evangelism expands, and God is glorified through their faithful stewardship.
The apostle Paul commended the Macedonian believers for their sacrificial giving beyond their ability, motivated by their desire to further God’s Kingdom: "And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God" (2 Corinthians 8:5, KJV).
Faith Promise Giving strengthens the church’s spiritual health by aligning it with God’s heart for the lost. As members give by faith, they trust God to provide and experience the joy of participating in His mission: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom" (Luke 6:38, KJV).
When a church commits to promoting missions through Faith Promise Giving, both the giver and the church are blessed. Missionaries are supported, the gospel is proclaimed, and God’s name is exalted throughout the world: "Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account" (Philippians 4:17, KJV). By promoting Faith Promise Giving, Parkway Baptist can grow in its calling to be a church that "goes into all the world" (Mark 16:15) and plays an active role in bringing the message of salvation to those who have never heard it.
Why Does Faith Promise Result in Increased Giving for Missions?
Faith Promise Giving leads to increased support for missions because it engages both the mind and the heart of the church.
First, it allows the Missions Ministry to inform the congregation about missional opportunities. As believers learn about the work being done to spread the gospel, their awareness and burden for missions grow.
Secondly, it encourages church members to make personal, prayerful commitments to give by faith. When believers seek God’s direction in giving, they experience the joy of trusting His provision, fulfilling the biblical principle: "Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase" (Proverbs 3:9, KJV). Faith Promise turns missions giving from an obligation into a spiritual act of worship, increasing both the congregation’s involvement and their generosity for the cause of Christ.
Does Faith Promise Hurt Other Church Giving?
No, Faith Promise Giving does not hurt other areas of church giving. In fact, studies consistently show that it strengthens overall giving within the church, including regular budget contributions.
When members commit to giving by faith, they grow spiritually and develop a deeper trust in God's provision. This trust leads to greater generosity in all areas of giving, as believers see the truth of God's promise: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom" (Luke 6:38, KJV).
Faith Promise not only fuels missions but also creates a culture of cheerful giving that benefits the entire ministry of the church.
